Suspicious Activity Alert

We are passing along this important information, which comes to us from the Wauconda Community Unit School District 118.

Dear Wauconda CUSD 118 Families,

We want to make you aware of a police report that was filed yesterday with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. The report indicated an adult male in a gold vehicle has made multiple attempts to engage in conversation with children at bus stops after school and in the early dusk hours in an unincorporated area of Lake County, the Timberlake Estates subdivision.

This subdivision is within our school district boundaries, an area that is located south of Rte 12 and east of Rte 59. We would like to remind all parents to talk to your children about the importance of not talking or responding to strangers, accepting candy or gifts from strangers, or entering the car of a stranger.

We have alerted our Transportation Department of this report and our drivers will be extra vigilant in watching for suspicious behavior as they drive students to and from school. Any suspicious behavior should be reported to the police.

Thank you,

Daniel J. Coles, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
