Students in Early Childhood and younger grades will experience the Advent Garden Spiral on Wednesday, December 2nd. St. Nicholas Day In-School Celebration—Friday, December 7th Wednesday, November 18, 2020 - Celebrations of Divine Wisdom and Love will be celebrated during the school day on Monday, December 7 and Friday, December 14. The first of these celebrations is St. Nicholas Day on December 7. St. Nicholas of Patara was a third century Bishop of Myra (near the present day village of Demre in Asia Minor). He left anonymous offerings to the poor. Money and food was left in their shoes or stockings. Santa Lucia In-School Celebration—December 14 Wednesday, November 18, 2020 - Celebrations of Divine Wisdom and Love will be celebrated throughout December.The second of these celebrations is Santa Lucia. We will observe Santa Lucia Day on Monday, December 14. Santa Lucia was an Italian saint from the island of Sicily. Santa Lucia is the complement to St. Nicholas during this time of Advent. Santa Lucia represents Divine Love and comes to the children with song rather than spoken word. In the Swedish tradition, Santa Lucia brings light in the time of darkness.
