Our Martinmas celebration: Children worked hard during the week, making their lanterns for this special night. Grade school children gathered for baked potatoes and cookies, then families joined in to share a reverent time of song and of carrying our lights, literally and figuratively, into the darkness-sharing them, spreading them, expanding them. Wind and rain did not deter us—it was a very special night! The Light of Martinmas fortifies our souls for the dark winter days ahead, and reminds us to shelter our own light as we carry it out into the dark world.
