What a remarkable flow of generosity from our community!
Here are a few words from Matt Myren, President of the Da Vinci Waldorf School Board of Trustees and Co-Host for the event:
Thank you, Da Vinci Waldorf community, for a great 2020 Giving Circle. This year is our first Giving Circle where ALL proposals were funded! A huge thank you all those who donated funds, helped set up the space, attended the event, participated as part of the community and voted on your favorite proposals, those who contributed additional funds to “top off” proposals at the event, and last but not least, the group that stayed out for some libations and live music after the event. It was a memorable evening that left me, once again, proud to be a part of this vibrant Waldorf community. If you couldn’t make the Giving Circle this year, please talk to those who attended, hear about how fun and meaningful it was, and plan to attend both next years’ event as well as the upcoming Annual Auction, Trivia Night and Chili Cook-off on April 25. I look forward to seeing you all there!
~ Matt Myren
Here are some numbers worth sharing to represent the support from our community.
100% of Board members
90.5% of Faculty members
56.52% of Parents
Contributions were made in amounts ranging from $5.00 to $4,500.00 by individual donors, matching incentives, and corporate matching programs.
The total amount of money raised before and during the event topped out at $31,166.00. The development threshold for our 2019-2020 budget was originally $15,000, but was reduced to $12,500 due to the level of other non-tuition revenues received by the school through a variety of activities including festivals and special events, pancake breakfasts, and the Scrip program. An additional $750 was added to the fund from a previous project that had leftover reserves.
This allowed the assembled group to “SHARE” and vote $12,950.00 among the 10 projects. Each of the 37 voters (present or who designated a proxy) received $350 to vote toward their favorite projects.
Here you can follow the numbers and the various ways projects were funded. There were some projects which were funded privately during the event which increased the total amount of money received through this year's Giving Circle to $19,116.00.We are filled with gratitude and will begin to work on completing these projects and informing you of their progress. Some are simple purchases, some are longer term projects, some are services, some are planning for the future!
