Title I Funding at work at DVWS

This year our school was the grateful recipient of Title I funding. This program is designed to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. To that end, we retained Mary Chemelewski, a reading specialist from Behavioral Vision in Crystal Lake, IL. Throughout the school year, Ms. Chemelewski visited and offered tips, techniques, and training to our teachers, she assessed individual students, and she taught mini lessons to each classroom, highlighting strategies to make reading and spelling more successful. She also gifted us with reading intervention resource manuals that we will be able to use for years to come. We are grateful for her insights and vast experience and hope to use her as a resource in the future.
