During the April 1st Community Conversation we shared plans for taking care of our home - our school building as one of our immediate Strategic Goals. We are pleased to report that during these last several weeks we have been meeting with contractors, discussing possibilities, receiving and analyzing proposals for the work which will begin this summer!
We are very excited and grateful to be in a position to make the needed changes and improvements to the building and parking lot. This is due to the hard and creative work of FiCom (Finance Committee) in leveraging the equity of our building while taking advantage of favorable interest rates to free up the needed capital. We are able to complete these projects with only a small monthly increase to our current mortgage payment. We are also grateful for the input from several members of the Board, Faculty, Staff and parents to explore the necessary steps for moving forward. After reviewing the multiple proposals, the Board of Trustees has approved the engagement of two trades providers:
Canga Restoration will begin shortly after July 4th and their scope of work includes:
- Inspection and restoration of framing and bones of the building
- Installation of Hardie Plank Siding - Boothbay Blue
- Installation of trim around windows and doors - white
- Replacement of windows
- Soffit and Fascia
- Gutters and Downspouts
Performance Paving will follow-up in early August and their scope of work includes
- Grading the circle drive and parking lot
- Paving the entire parking lot.
Please stay tuned for updates and summer school closures due to the work ahead.
Summer Camps will proceed as planned amidst the work and we are delighted to begin this much needed TLC for our home.
