Graduation 2016
Friday, June 3rd, we gathered together to say goodbye and good luck to Grace, Sadie, and Iris. The day was beautiful—warm and sunny—setting just the right mood for our celebration.
Mrs. Julian, Mrs. Dudeck, Mrs. English and Mrs. Paulsen spoke from the heart, recounting memories of our three graduates, bringing many laughs and plenty of tears.
Our three graduating eighth graders each treated us to a special project they worked on just for this occasion. Sadie composed a witty account of the 6th, 7th and 8th grades' recent class trip. Iris presented her clay sculpture of Eleanor of Aquitaine and an accompanying brief history of this strong woman of the Middle Ages. Grace serenaded us with two piano pieces—Let it Be, by Lennon and McCartney and See You Again, by Whiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.
Our graduates, next year's seventh and eighth graders, and alumni joined together in a beautiful moment to sing "As I Went Down to the River to Pray," an Appalachian folk hymn.
Diplomas were awarded through many tears, hugs, and laughs.
We ended the day with our end-of-year potluck picnic, celebrating the end of a school year with food, togetherness, gaga ball and bubbles!
