Second grade is studying heroes and saints. Often animals play a strong role of virtue or of human folly.
Third grade has returned to the stories of the Old Testament. Here the Hebrew people receive manna from heaven during their difficult journey through the desert to Mt. Sinai. Just like a third grader who at times feels exiled, the Hebrews again and again face challenges and the gifts of spiritual growth and grace.
