Inspiring Life-long Learning for Over 25 Years

All of our students love our Waldorf Movement and Games class with Mr. Boshell, and for good reason!
They are outside, running around and playing, having tons of fun.
There is deeper learning going on too, learning that helps connect to each other, and learn more about themselves.
Engaging the heads, the hearts and hands.
So what exactly happens in Movement and Games class?
1st-3rd grades have been working on circle movement, finding and maintaining one’s space while in the circle and playing cooperative games.
Learning rules, playing by the rules and learning appropriate ways to communicate with others when in a disagreement has been the main focus the first part of the school year.
Treating others with kindness and respect has been an ongoing dialogue.
How each student communicates with others is very important.

4th grade has been working on different skill building activities ie. throwing, catching, running for fun in tag games, juggling and playing different cooperative games with 5th grade (they share one class/week with 5th grade).
5th grade learned each of the pentathlon events (javelin, discus, long jump, sprinting, group run and the relay race) this fall in preparation for the pentathlon in the spring. There was one warm day in the 50’s in late January that the class practiced the javelin throw, sprinting, the group run and long jump.
This winter they learned wrestling and have been learning the finer sport of badminton on Friday afternoons indoors at the ms campus.
The class has been learning a 3 ball juggling progression with both Mr. Kane and Mr. Boshell throughout the fall and winter.
With focus, practice and determination, each student is juggling 3 balls to some varying degree of catches.

6th grade has learned volleyball, ultimate frisbee, archery, pickleball, badminton and are currently in a conditioning block.
They will work with wood staves (sticks) this spring learning to control and use the sticks in various ways.
As the weather begins to warm up, they will test their bodies with different activities of running, throwing, and jumping.
7th grade learned volleyball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, pickleball, badminton and are currently conditioning.
The class will do a track and field block this spring as the weather changes and gets warmer.
8th grade has learned volleyball, ultimate frisbee, archery, pickleball, badminton and are currently in a conditioning block.
They will work with wood staves (sticks) this spring learning to control and use the sticks in various ways.
They will have a running/track and field block this spring.
