Middle School Teacher
Kristine Fiskum is a Middle School teacher.
Before teaching I was a photojournalist for 10 years. My attraction to Waldorf education was that it made sense for education to involve the whole person in stages as they grow and engage with the natural world.
Da Vinci Waldorf School’s strength is in bringing people together for the good of the children. While we are small and sometimes don’t have enough (fill in the blank), we abound in creative ingenuity and cooperation.
Much that affects education has changed in the world since I discovered this school in 2001. One important thing that hasn’t changed is the curriculum’s focus on supporting children’s development through nature, relationships, arts, and understanding through observation and experience.
My greatest wish is that the students will embrace their lives and deepen their interest in the world. That curiosity will lead them to the meaningful and satisfying opportunities that lie ahead.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking and gardening, and spending time outdoors and with my family.
