Inspiring Life-long Learning for Over 25 Years

Farming Teacher
Emily Young teaches farming classes for the grade school.
I am the farming teacher at Da Vinci Waldorf School, working with students from first through eighth grade. It is a joy to share the rhythms of the seasons, the care of animals, and the lessons of the land with children of all ages.
I grew up on a small hobby farm and was active in 4-H from first grade until I graduated from high school. Those experiences gave me a lifelong love for agriculture, animals, and hands-on learning. I went on to earn a degree in biology and later a doctorate in chiropractic, but farming has always remained close to my heart. Today, I live on a ten-acre homestead with about 100 head of poultry, three cows, four horses, and a large garden that keeps my family and me connected to the land.
My family’s connection to Waldorf education runs deep—my husband is a Waldorf graduate, and I love how this approach to learning allows children to thrive without the interference of technology. I hope my students leave Da Vinci Waldorf with strong independent and critical thinking skills that will guide them throughout life.
In my free time, I enjoy riding horses, doing CrossFit, and spending time with my family.
