First Grade Friday Feast continues to be a favorite time of the week. This week we fashioned pretzels along with the traditional favorite bread roll.

In painting, colors emerged from a rainbow cloud. Students are now working with many colors together, applying their understanding of complementary, primary, secondary, and contrasting colors.

While the first grade is focused on math in its block study, stories continue to allow language development.

The third math block is ending with the transition of step counting (2,4,6...) to multiplication sentences. Thinking of marsh and meadow creatures, and how far they can jump helps form a tangible relationship. 

A few first graders have completed their knitted scarves. Very soon the whole class will have roasty toasty necks.

First grade is in its 3rd math block exploring more relationships with the four processes. The story of Numberland continues with many more people moving in. This creates a housing shortage which must be solved by King Counting and Queen…
