The Sunflower Garden invited the eighth grade students to enjoy snack time with them as they remembered back to their time in our early childhood program. Our four graduates all attended preschool at Da Vinci Waldorf School—back when it was Waters Edge Waldorf School. The children had many questions for them, like what toys they liked to play with and what was their favorite thing about May Faire. It was a lovely visit for all!

The early childhood set their butterflies free this week. Perhaps we will see them at the May Faire fluttering about from flower to flower!

The little ones of Wonder Garden learn about and welcome spring with the help of Lady Spring and the children, dancing around the Maypole.

The May Faire treasure hunt must be coming! Many early childhood students are chipping away at stones looking for crystals and treasures hidden within!

The picnic tables doubled as classrooms this week, as the wonderful weather beckoned our teachers and students outside. How refreshing it has been to watch the children learn, build, create and do, under a blue sky, with the chickens milling about!

More math in first and second grades! Thanks to a lovely introduction by Mrs. Fiskum, our class began working with the "division house," or division algorithm. This is the first step towards solving more complicated division problems, and reinforces the strong relationship between multiplication and division.

Third graders continued building their clay oven this week. They are digging clay from the ground on school property for the project! They've worked on this throughout the school year, replacing the one built by Mrs English's third grade class over a decade ago.

The fourth graders have been working hard on map making. Their most recent adventures have included making different kinds of maps that represent the state of Illinois. They have made drawings of the rivers and landscapes, as well as built a salt dough map to more distinctly show the terrain. It has been a great learning experience for all!

In our study of light and reflection in physics this week, students observed how shadows from objects outside of a mirror can appear to continue into the mirror (and conversely shadows from objects inside the mirror appear to continue outside the mirror.) This, and a series of other demonstrations, helped to illustrate the law of reflection (the angle of incidence of light into a mirror is equal to the angle of reflection.)
