As part of our investigation of heat we dyed one flask of hot water red and inverted it over another flask of the same size filled with cold water. We observed that in this position the hot water remained in it's flask. When we changed the position so that the hot water flask was on the bottom and the cold water was inverted on the top we observed a constant transfer of water between the two flasks.
This experiment aided us in our understanding of the relationship between temperature and density.
