Bookkeeper

Position Description:

The Bookkeeper will maintain records of financial transactions and provide supportive oversight of vendor contracts.  This position reports to and works with the Co-Administrators to maintain the financial health of the school.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Update QBO/Chart of Accounts system to reflect financial transactions
  • Maintain accounts by verifying, allocating and posting transactions
  • Balance accounts (credit card, PayPal etc.)  by reconciling entries monthly
  • Prepare monthly  financial reports for FiCom
  • Oversee/submit payroll distribution (2 x month)
  • Pay vendor bills and track bank account balances
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Comply with federal, state and local legal financial requirements 
  • Arrange and provide information for yearly financial audit
  • Generate class fund, class supply, B&G spending, marketing spending reports, and others on a quarterly basis
  • inform administrator of any areas that are over or in danger of being over budget
  • prepare “banks/cash boxes” for festivals
  • create and distribute 1099s for all applicable persons
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Bookkeeping Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite and QuickBooks
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail

  • Data entry skills

Organizational Responsibilities

  • When needed answer phones, take messages
  • Support parents and teachers as needed/requested 
  • Additional tasks as needed and requested by the Administrator

Training Requirements:

  • Business Degree or Accounting Certificate

Work Expectation

  • 15+ hours per week
  • Approximately 35 weeks of school year
  • Additional hours outside of school days may include
    • Summer hours approximately 10 hours/week 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate of pay based on experience
  • Tuition remission based on current employment policy
  • School vacations and holidays mostly off based on the school calendar excluding payroll processing.
  • This is a Part-time Non-Exempt hourly position
