Iordanka Kissiova

Orchestra Teacher

Iordanka Kissiova finds joy in being the Orchestra teacher for the 4th through 8th grades at Da Vinci Waldorf School.

My love for teaching kids dates back to 1985 in Bulgaria when I first began teaching privately and at the "Little School of Music,"  prior to becoming co-founder and string teacher of the National Youth Orchestra Sofia.

In addition to teaching, I was a member of the National Musical Theatre, National Radio Orchestra, and Ladies Chamber Orchestra performing throughout Europe.

Soon after moving to the Chicago area I started teaching violin, viola and violoncello in 1996, privately. I taught at Quinlan & Fabish Music Store, and I am a string instructor at Classic Violins Shop in Mundelein since 2017.

Personally, I am an active orchestra, chamber and solo musician playing widely in the Chicagoland area and co- founder of Blagoev Ki Strings enesamble and studio.

Even with being nominated for a Grammy in 2016 for the New Budapest Orpheum Society album "As Dreams Fall Apart," I can say the biggest award is the smile and joy in the kids eyes learning to play instruments and appreciation for music, in general.

I feel honored to be part of the wonderful family of the distinctive DaVinci Waldorf School - where the kids grow being happy, close to nature and the universe, independent, smart and unique.
