The Da Vinci Waldorf School is a private pre K-8 school located in Wauconda, IL. Da Vinci Waldorf School teaches children to embrace learning through a developmentally-appropriate, multidisciplinary, experiential curriculum which leads to clear and critical thinking, ethical and compassionate actions, and the ability to make a difference in the world.
The School seeks a creative, energetic and organized Fund-raiser with excellent communication and technology skills to manage the annual fund, special events, cultivate and solicit major gifts, and coordinate all other development and “friend-raising” functions. Da Vinci Waldorf is a small school, as such, the director of development has primary responsibility for all fundraising activities on campus and is assisted by the school administrator, trustees and parent volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the fundraising and increasing the non-tuition revenue stream each year through donor and alumni solicitation, community engagement and event planning.
- Coordinate all fundraising efforts on campus, including the annual campaign, auctions, spring Gala and donor follow-up
Collaborate with PTO in the planning of all faire events (e.g. May Faire, Fall Festival, etc.) and coordinate efforts of the volunteer community in the execution of those plans when volunteer resources are not available or sufficient. - Actively seek new revenue streams by applying for grants and building partnerships with local corporations.
- Create a strong sense of community on campus that is united around supporting the activities of the school. This includes volunteer recruitment and management.
- Maintain the content of development pages of the Da Vinci Waldorf School website to promote the School’s online presence.
- Maintain the development databases and other necessary supporting documentation.
- Organize, oversee, attend, and in all ways champion and support our friendraising events which currently include, at a minimum, the following:
Giving Circle
Raffle
Auction - Promote events internally and externally.
- Partner effectively with Administrator(s), Staff, parent population and other Board members.
- Attend all necessary Board meetings and provide a status update on recent activities, challenges, etc.
- Develop a parent education program around fundraising.
The Development Coordinator is expected to engage in the above responsibilities year-round with weekly hourly commitment estimated to be 20 hours each week.
Essential Qualifications:
Prior successful fundraising/development experience
Attention to accuracy, confidentiality, details and deadlines is required.
Strong writing and speaking skills are required.
Clear and articulate communication verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience developing and maintaining an online presence
Experience with the Microsoft and Google productivity suites including all basic application functions such as word processing, spreadsheets, slide presentations and email.
Compensation:
Hourly plus remission. Expected 20 hours/wk at $18 per hour or $18,720 annualized, plus 25% tuition remission. Higher hours during peak fundraising/auction/benefit will be required and approved as needed.
