Growing up in the Andersen family, there was always music in the house. In her twenties and early thirties, Donna sang background vocals in the band The I-Lites, headed by her brother, Dave Andersen. From this she branched off and picked up the guitar to showcase her vocals more in the contemporary folk band Prairie Smoke. Donna Brooks still collaborates with siblings and friends along with taking the stage as a solo performer of music and storytelling.
