Halloween Parade & Costume Guidelines Thursday, October 18, 2018 - Parents are invited to join us on Halloween—Monday, October 31st—for our annual Halloween Parade! The parade will be at noon, and will include both early childhood and grades students. For the best view of the parade, please walk around (not through) the building to reach the play area, via the "chicken side" of the building (the east side). Early Childhood students and teachers will lead the parade out the front doors, around to the east, out toward the prairie, and then back, where they will form into a large circle where everyone can see the costumes. Big Ugly Book Drive—Helping Children Dream Bigger Dreams Sunday, October 14, 2018 - Da Vinci Waldorf School is honored to be partnering this year with local activist Shari Gullo and Step by Step to assist with the Big Ugly Book Drive. Photos: Weekly Pantry Walk – Grades Service Learning Sunday, October 14, 2018 - Our grade school students went on their second Pantry Walk of the year on Friday. It was a smaller group than usual this week because 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades were away enjoying a field trip. Each week until Thanksgiving break they will take our community donations to the Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry. Thank you for your donations so far! Please keep donating as you are able. Food Drive & Pantry Walk – Donations Appreciated Saturday, September 29, 2018 - Da Vinci Waldorf School is partnering with the Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry to provide donations to build up their offerings for the colder months. During this season of Michaelmas, we focus outward beyond ourselves to the needs of others. As part of our Service Learning curriculum we give the children opportunities for deeds that engage their wills and challenge them to think of others. We will collect donations from students, parents and the community from now until Thanksgiving break. Medication Procedures – Reminder Friday, September 28, 2018 - If a child needs over-the-counter medication, homeopathic medication, or prescription medication during the school day, parents must bring the medication to the office in its original bottle, labeled with the child’s name and dosage instructions.  The parent must also fill out a medication authorization form detailing how and when the medication should be administered. No medication will be administered without written instructions and signed permission.  DVWS staff and faculty are not trained medical professionals, and the school does not employ a school nurse.  All medications will be kept in the office.
