Congratulations to this year’s “Take Flight” grant recipients!
Three of our recipients will be at our All-School Community Meeting on Thursday, 3/15 to receive their awards—come out and congratulate them! What an inspiration it is to see our young people moving forward in such meaningful ways. We are honored to help them on their journeys. We wish each of them well and look forward to hearing about their successes!
The DVWS Take Flight Grant is an annual grant for alumni of Da Vinci / Water’s Edge Waldorf School, and is normally capped at $250 for one winner per year. Many thanks to the anonymous donor who stepped up and made up the difference, allowing for four recipients this year.
Sadie Avila graduated from DVWS in 2016. She is being awarded $250, which she will use to participate in Carmel High School’s running camp. She hopes to better herself as an athlete and come one step closer to her goal of running at the state meet in Peoria this fall.
Alma Brooks graduated from DVWS in 2014. She is being awarded $210, which she will use to purchase a pick-up for her violin, so that she can amplify it clearly when she performs music, which she enjoys frequently in local venues. She has an interest in music therapy and knows that music will be integral to her future.
Will Brooks graduated from DVWS in 2017. He is being awarded $200, which he will use to partially fund a mission trip this July where he will work directly with people making changes in their lives and being of service to their community.
Tim Paczynski graduated from DVWS in 2013. He is being awarded $250, which he will use to drive to Colorado and serve with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV) this summer, while also video documenting the experience to share online in hopes of inspiring others to do their own service work.
