Another Suspicious Activity Alert

We are again passing along important information, which comes to us from the Wauconda Community Unit School District 118.

Dear District 118 Families,

The Island Lake Police Department has notified us of a “suspicious activity” report that was filed earlier today by a concerned parent. The reported suspicious behavior had some similarities to the incident that was shared with you last week.

It was reported that an older white man with disheveled hair and beard watched two children playing in a front yard from inside a gold work van with ladders on it. This vehicle differed from the one reported from last week as that vehicle was a gold sedan. The parent reported that when she attempted to take a picture of the individual with her cell phone, he drove off.

Once again, we would like to remind all parents to talk to your children about the importance of not talking or responding to strangers, accepting candy or gifts from strangers, or entering the car of a stranger. Also, please report any suspicious behavior to the police immediately by calling 911. Our Transportation Department continues to be extra vigilant for suspicious behavior as they drive students to and from school.

Thank you,

Daniel J. Coles, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
